Things To Do On Toronto’s Waterfront This Spring

Spring has officially (and finally) landed in Toronto! With the new season comes warmer weather, beautiful flowers, and an incredible lineup of events, activities, festivals, and more.

In particular, Toronto’s waterfront completely transforms. Parks turn green, flowers bloom, and the harbour is busy with boats, ferries, and cruises.

Here is a lineup of spring events and activities on Toronto’s waterfront that will keep you busy all season long:

Island Awakening - Toronto Islands

  • Date: March 21 - 22

  • Time: 11 AM - 5 PM

  • Location: Ward and Algonquin Island

Explore Ward's Island and Algonquin Island through guided nature walks, birding tours, Indigenous-led cultural programming, live performances, hands-on arts and crafts, and interactive environmental activities.

Earth Day Community Cleanup

  • Date: Wednesday, April 22

  • Time: 10 AM - 2 PM

  • Location: 96 Queens Quay W

Join us this Earth Day, April 22, to help clean up our vibrant waterfront neighbourhood! Come meet us in Love Park from 10 AM - 2 PM to grab free cleaning supplies (gloves and garbage bags).

Legacy in Motion - Ballet Creole

  • Date: April 25

  • Time: Show starts at 8 PM

  • Location: Terminal Theatre, 207 Queens Quay West - 3rd Floor

Don’t miss an unforgettable evening of dance performances celebrating and honouring the legacy of Patrick Parson, founder of Ballet Creole.

Cherry Blossom Season

  • Date: Last week of April - Beginning week of May

  • Location: Centre Island

A hidden gem on the Toronto Islands is a row of over 30 Cherry Blossom Trees, lining the pathways and landscape.

Centre Island also offers incredible visuals of the city’s skyline and Lake Ontario.

The Cherry Blossoms are located beside the William Meany Maze.

Janes Walk

  • Date: May 1 - May 3

  • Location: Waterfront Wide

In hundreds of cities around the world, communities come together and share stories during walks around their neighbourhoods. It’s an opportunity to learn more about your neighbourhood and to connect with others.

Festival of Flavours

  • Date: May 15 - May 18

  • Location: Sugar Beach, 11 Dockside Dr

Festival of Flavours is a high-energy outdoor food celebration packed with bold bites, sweet treats, and can’t-miss eats all in one place.

Throughout the event, guests can enjoy $5 tasting features, offering an easy and affordable way to sample standout dishes and uncover new favourites. Festival of Flavours is where flavour - and fun - take centre stage.

Bealtaine Theatre Festival

  • Date: May 21- June 7

  • Location: The Corleck - 3 Eireann Quay

The Bealtaine Festival features some of Ireland's most captivating and award-winning contemporary theatre productions over a two-week period!

Check out the incredible lineup of performances and grab your tickets before they sell out!

Bealtaine is an ancient Celtic festival, celebrating the arrival of summer.

Doors Open

Explore the city’s most loved buildings and get a rare behind-the-scenes look at sites normally closed to the public.

Luminato Festival

  • Date: June 3 - June 28

  • Location: 235 Queens Quay W

Throughout June, QR codes placed along the waterfront will invite visitors to listen to oral histories and reflections behind Philip Cote’s work.

Each Sunday in June, Elder Duke will host Ask an Elder sessions, offering guests the opportunity to engage in conversation, share stories, and deepen their understanding of the themes woven throughout this project.

In addition, Luminato will host a weekend takeover of Harbourfront Centre with a series of performances.

The Power of the Land - Luminato Festival

  • Date: June 6, 11 AM - 8 PM

  • Location: Ireland Park to Harbourfront Centre

'The Power of the Land' is a procession along the waterfront, starting at Ireland Park and finishing at Harbourfront Centre.

The procession involves large-scale puppets representing the birds of the south, centre, and north of Turtle Island, Tocani music and Aztec dance performances, and Elder Duke Redbird’s seminal poem.

The ceremonial procession concludes at Harbourfront Centre ampitheatre, where audiences will encounter Philip Cote’s eight-hour durational live mural painting of Turtle Island, inspired by the Anishinaabe 13 Moons lunar calendar and its teachings about seasonal cycles and relationships to the land.

Dragon Boat Festival

  • Date: June 13 - June 14

  • Location: Centre Island

Mark your calendars for an action-packed weekend on the Toronto Islands!

Over a hundred teams from around the world will race across the water.

Along with a thrilling display of speed, there will be live performances, delicious food, and family-friendly activities all weekend long.

Christopher Titus Comedy Show

  • Date: June 12

  • Location: Terminal Theatre, 207 Queens Quay W - 3rd Floor

Comedian icon, Christopher Titus, is coming to Toronto's waterfront!

His new show, 'Doomed to Repeat' is known for it's take-no prisoners wit and edgy comedy.

You don't want to miss out on this memorable show, and tickets are already almost sold out!

KidSpark - Ontario Science Centre

  • Date: Ongoing

  • Location: Terminal Theatre, 207 Queens Quay W - 3rd Floor

The Ontario Science Centre has a temporary new home on Toronto's Waterfront - Harbourfront Centre!

Check out KidSpark this spring, a piece of Ontario's Science Centre on Toronto's harbourfront.

Boating Season

The 2026 spring season is forecasted to be warm and beautiful! And with the warm arrival of spring comes the official start of boating season on May 1st.

Toronto’s waterfront offers plenty of excitement and water activities to choose from:

Biking

Explore Toronto’s waterfront and the islands comfortably and adventurously by renting a bike!

Enjoy a ride along the Martin Goodman Trail with gorgeous views of Lake Ontario and visit Toronto’s iconic landmarks including the CN Tower, Harbourfront Centre, and Toronto’s Music Garden.

With the wind in your hair and the sun on your face, you can explore the waterfront at your own pace. Indulge in ice cream or enjoy a snack at one of the many waterfront restaurants or patios.

The waterfront offers many bike rental spots that are conveniently located and offer affordable options. This includes:

Toronto Islands

Start planning your return to the Toronto Islands this spring! In May, the Toronto Islands become a lively destination again. The parks turn green, flowers bloom, and ferry services pick up. Cyclists, kayakers, and picnickers return, while Centreville Amusement Park reopens.

Patios

Toronto is notorious for its patio enthusiasm. And patios on the waterfront are on a whole other level with their epic views of Lake Ontario and incredible food.

Most patios will not be open until May, and it’s best to double-check with the restaurants to make sure the patios are open before visiting.
