Looking for fun, family-friendly things to do in Toronto this Family Day long weekend? Toronto’s waterfront is the place to be, offering free skating, DJ skate nights, creative workshops, and live music for all ages.

Whether you’re planning a full weekend outing or a single-day adventure, here’s your guide to what’s happening. 

Free Hot Chocolate and Ice Skating at Sherbourne Common

Kick off the long weekend and join us and MP Chi Nguyen for a fun, family-friendly PA day event featuring free skate rentals, helmets, and skating aids for all ages, courtesy of the Waterfront BIA. Warm up afterward with complimentary hot chocolate, it's the perfect way to enjoy the PA day!

Skate By The Lake

Enjoy open skating along the waterfront with free skate rentals available on Saturday, making it easy for families and first-time skaters to join in. Also, get groovy at the season's final DJ Skate Night, happening Saturday from 8 PM – 10 PM.

Power Kids: Family Day Drop-In

On Family Day, head to The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery for a hands-on weaving workshop using recycled and found fabrics. Kids aged 7–12 can experiment with patterns, textures, and colour in this creative program. No registration required, just drop in and join the fun!

Family Day Programming at Harbourfront Centre

Get creative with hands-on workshops, crafts, science experiments, film screenings, storytelling and much more. Don’t miss the spectacular Ice performance by Storm Productions in collaboration with the Ice Theatre of Toronto. Check out Harbourfront Centre’s website for the full schedule.

Comedy Shows at The Second City

Get ready for a fun-filled outing at The Second City with a 90-minute comedy show featuring hilarious sketches and improv. After the show, enjoy a meal or snack at their onsite restaurant, The Bentwood.

Afro-Franco Music Showcase

Wrap up the day with a live Afro-Franco music showcase featuring global sounds by the Batuki Music Society as part of KUUMBA, Canada’s largest Black Futures Month festival.
